NL van Geest offers a flowering guarantee
Upon arrival of your package containing Amaryllis bulbs, we assume that the bulbs are in good condition. The wood wool is intended to protect the bulbs and absorb evaporated moisture. We always check the bulbs for health before shipping. An Amaryllis bulb is a natural product, and visible external damage may occur. This is the result of impacts during mechanical processing. The flower stems will appear normally and come into bloom.
A: Common external irregularities that are normal:
- Red spots on the bulbs; The cause is impacts during processing and transport, and this is normal. These are bruises. You can simply plant the bulb.
- Cracks in the bulb; The bulb is under pressure from its growth force and splits open. This is normal, and you can simply plant the bulb.
- Mold on the bulb; An Amaryllis bulb breathes during transport. Under unfavorable storage conditions, mold may develop. This is normal and harmless. Use a soft brush and clean water under the tap to brush the mold off the bulb, pat it dry, and allow it to dry thoroughly. Then plant the bulb.
- No flower stem emerges from the bulb within 10 weeks; Depending on the temperature, it takes an average of 6–10 weeks for the flower stem to emerge from the bulb. Sumatra takes 12–14 weeks. Patience is therefore important.
- Color variation during flowering; The time of year determines the amount of sunlight, which affects the exact color. The color is often more intense in spring than in winter.
